Mommy in training December 14th, 2006

Now that I’m three months old, I’m finally making some progress at training my mommy. We’re settling into a nice routine.

It all starts when I wake up in the morning. I’m still groggy and not happy about being awake, so I’m usually a bit grumpy. Sometimes Mommy wakes me up with a little snack; I like that! Eventually I’ll start squirming around on the bed and grunting, and that lets Mommy know I’m ready to be awake. She picks me up and lets me sit up on her tummy, and then the poop party begins! At this point, it’s me vs. the diaper. I have been saving up all night to see if I can overflow it. Sometimes I win! While I’m sitting there, I like to make lots of faces at Mommy and I even talk to her when I’m taking a little break. She doesn’t really seem to understand me very well yet.

When I’m done, Mommy takes me to get a new diaper. She also gets me new clothes, and I think it’s funny to see if I can suck on my fingers the whole time she’s trying to change my shirt! Once I am dressed, I get to go hang out with Daddy for a little while. That’s fun, but usually I am kind of tired again and I end up falling asleep.

Then Mommy comes back and Daddy goes to work. By this point I am hungry again. Sometimes I get to eat right away, but sometimes I have to take a bath first. I don’t really like that. I used to scream and hope that she would give up, but Mommy was persistent. Even though I don’t like being naked, the head rub at the end is kind of nice, and it’s fun to see Mommy’s face when I pee in the water!

If I had a bath, Mommy gets me dressed again. Then we go over to our special chair and Mommy gives me more milk. Yum! Now I am sleepy, so usually I take another nap while Mommy is holding me.

After naptime, Mommy puts me in my bouncy chair so she can do dishes and make lunch for her and Daddy. I used to not like this at all, but now I realized that the chair is kind of fun, and Mommy brings me into the kitchen so I can watch her and make sure she doesn’t get into trouble. When she and Daddy eat, sometimes I eat too. Other times I’m still having fun in my chair, so I stay there until Mommy’s done eating.

The afternoon is when we do different things. Some days Mommy takes me to the store. At first, she would try to bring in my carseat and put me in the shopping cart. I didn’t like that at all!! Finally, she believed me that I still wanted to be held and would protest if I wasn’t. Now we have a special thing that holds me up against Mommy while we’re at the store. This keeps me all warm and snuggly, and I usually fall asleep because I’m so comfy.

Other days we stay home and Mommy tries to play with me on the floor. I don’t like this! At first I tried to humor Mommy and I would roll over for her, but I think that only encouraged her because now she wants me to do it again. I have been screaming whenever she puts me on the floor, but she isn’t catching on. Sometimes Mommy can be a little slow! Doesn’t she see that I just don’t like to be on my tummy. I don’t know why we keep doing this. I have to work a little harder to train Mommy.

Sometimes Mommy gets out the camera and takes pictures of me. I wasn’t a big fan of this either-the light is so bright on my eyes! But I’m getting used to it, and Mommy seems to enjoy it, so I’ve decided to start cooperating. Sometimes I even smile for her now! Only for a little while though. Otherwise she might never stop! Yesterday she dressed me up in a fancy outfit-even a tie!-and took pictures of me in a big chair. It was fun to see Mommy making all those silly faces at me.
After all the excitement, I’m usually ready for another nap. First I get to eat though-more milk, yum! After my nap I get to eat again, and that makes me happy. Sometimes I’ll just look up at Mommy and talk to her and smile at her because I’m in such a good mood.

Lots of times during the day we play one of my favorite games. Mommy takes me into the other room to change my diaper. It’s so much fun to see if I can pee or poop while she has my diaper off!! Haha! Mommy makes really funny faces when that happens. She’s getting faster though, so it’s harder for me to win at this game. But I still like to play!

In the evening I get to see Daddy again! He likes it when I smile at him, and sometimes we play games together.

Some days in the evening we go to Grandma and Grandpa’s house. Those people are so silly!! Both of them make lots of funny faces at me. One neat thing is that Grandma has some fun toys that light up and make music-I like those! A lot of times while we are there Mommy and Daddy like to play games. I don’t really understand the games, but I try to guess what would be a funny time to fill up my diaper or make Mommy stand up and walk around with me. Sometimes I’ll pass gas really loud and make everbody laugh!
Usually Mommy starts to get tired around now. But this is my favorite time of day, so I do everything I can to keep her from going to sleep right now. I talk to her, and smile at her. I ask to eat a lot. Sometimes I have to resort to filling my diapers or crying. When she keeps rocking me or patting my back it gets hard for me to stay awake though. Before I know it I wake up in bed! I try not to stay asleep for very long, and Mommy lets me eat a lot during the night. I even get to play the diaper game once with Daddy and once with Mommy at night.

Mommy is really doing pretty good for only being in training a few months. I have to keep her on her toes, though! Maybe pretty soon I’ll start moving around on my own-now that will be fun!
